Some themes have options for selecting what kind of page (template) will be displayed as the home page, then there are typically options related to the menu to be used by that page (with or without posts) and/or in other places. So, I would guess your challenge is simply that of locating and sorting through those kinds of options until the specific combination you need has been found.
